June 7

June 7, 2014:  Saturday, 7th Week of Easter

Readings
  • Acts 28:16-20, 30-31  Paul to Jewish leaders:  “I've done nothing against our people or customs but was handed over to the Romans as a prisoner.  The Jews objected to their releasing me, so I appealed.  I wanted to speak with you because I'm chained because of the hope of Israel.”  He remained for two years, receiving all who came and proclaiming the Kingdom and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ.
    Wordle: Readings 6-7-14
  • Ps 11:4, 5, 7  "The just will gaze on your face, O Lord."  The Lord is just; his throne is in heaven.  His eyes behold mankind, searching the just and the wicked.
  • Jn 21:20-25  When Peter asked Jesus about the disciple following whom Jesus loved, Jesus said, “What concern is it of yours if I want him to remain until I come?  You follow me.”  If everything else Jesus did was to be written individually, I don't think the world could hold the books.
Music for Holy Spirit novena
Reflections
    • Creighton:  The readings, for the end of Easter, are the ends of Acts (Paul's ongoing efforts) and John (about John himself and Jesus' other works).  God, give us faithfulness, courage, and wisdom...
    • One Bread One Body:  The Lord doesn't want us to compare ourselves with others or to delay.  When we receive the Holy Spirit, we perform the "acts of the apostles," not questioning God, comparing ourselves with others, or getting bogged down in our problems.
      • DailyScripture.net:   Jesus said "What is that to you?" because Peter and John were given different tasks.
      Apparel

      • "Eyeball" pin:  "The Lord's eyes behold mankind.  The upright shall see his face." (psalm)
      • Orange and yellow on T-shirt:  fiery colors (Holy Spirit novena)
      • White T-shirt:  Easter season
