Listen

  • 1 Kgs 8:1-7, 9-13  The leaders came to King Solomon to bring up the ark. The priests carried it and the meeting tent with vessels, sacrificed sheep and oxen, and brought the ark to its place, with nothing in it but the stone tablets Moses had put there.  When they left, the cloud filled the temple.  Solomon said, “The Lord intends to dwell in the cloud; I've built you a house where you may abide forever.”
  • Ps 132:6-7, 8-10  "Lord, go up to the place of your rest!"  Let us enter into his dwelling; let us worship at his footstool.
  • Mk 6:53-56  Jesus and his disciples came to land.  People recognized him and began to bring in the sick.  They begged to touch his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.
Reflect
    • Creighton:  Jesus healed all who came to him in need.  How did the people recognize him?  How do we?  Our faith community helps.
      St. Jerome Emiliani
    • One Bread, One Body:  "The most privileged people ever":  Solomon built the Temple that the Lord filled with his glory, but we who are baptized are greater than Solomon, temples of the Spirit; God lives within us. / Sick people touched Jesus' cloak and were healed, but we receive Jesus in the Eucharist.  We're the most privileged, gifted, and blessed people ever.  Remember: "When much has been given you, much will be required of you...."
    • Passionist:  As the people approached Jesus, he turned to them with compassion and cured them.  It's hard to imagine that happening now, but it'll happen this March when the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available for a 24 hours straight.  “Maybe if I just touch his cloak, if I just receive Christ’s forgiveness, I'll be healed.” / "How can I turn them away?"
    • DailyScripture.net:  "Many were made well":  When Jesus disembarked, people immediately recognized him.  What did they recognize in him:  prophet, healer, Messiah, Son of God?  Certainly divine healing power.  The Lord is ready to meet our needs too....
