Listen

  • Jl 4:12-21  Come; I'll sit in judgment.  The harvest is ripe, the wine press fullvats overflow, so great their malice.  The day of the Lord is near.  Sun, moon, and stars are dark.  The Lord roars, but the Lord is a refuge to his people.  Then you'll know I am your God,  Jerusalem shall be holy.  Mountains shall drip new wine, hills milk. and channels of Judah water.  Egypt shall be a waste, because of the violence done, innocent bloodshed.  But Judah and Jerusalem shall abide....
  • Ps 97:1-2, 5-6, 11-12  "Rejoice in the Lord, you just!"  The Lord is king.  Justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne.  Mountains melt like wax before him.  All see his glory.  Light dawns for the just.
  • Lk 11:27-28  Woman from crowd / Jesus:  “Blessed the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” / “Rather, blessed are those who hear and observe God's word.”
Reflect
    • Creighton:  Jesus tells us our relationship with him can be blessed to the extent we let it be one of hearing and keeping his word.  We're invited to be family with those beyond blood relationship.  Jesus included us; we should include others, opening our hearts to the hungry, the poor, and the marginalized.  We're called to reach out to others as a way to unite with Jesus and his mission.  Jesus longs for a close, personal family relationship with us as we speak with and lean on him....
      St. Paulinus
    • One Bread One Body:  "Decide today":  In the "Valley of Jehoshaphat" ("The LORD judges"), God will decide our destiny on the "Day of the Lord."  In our time here we prepare to stand before God on the Day of the Lord.  Before God decides, we have decisions to make:  to accept and serve the Lord....
    • Passionist:  Jesus says those who hear and do God's word are even more blessed his own mother.  Water conservation and the Gospel have similarities:  Our water, air, energy, and soil are gifts meant to be shared, conserved, and respected.  Our water systems are interconnected. Our use, waste, or pollution of resources has regional and global implications.  My shower takes water out of another’s cup....
    • DailyScripture.net:  "Hear and keep God's word":  Mary humbly submitted herself to God's plan for the incarnation of his Son, the Word made flesh in her:  I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.  Mary heard and believed God's word spoken to her via the angel.  We were created for God and are restless till we rest in him.  "A Christian's only relatives are the saints" (Lucian of Antioch).  Those who follow Jesus and seek God's will enter into a family of "saints" on earth and in heaven.  True kinship is not just a matter of flesh and blood; our adoption as God's children requires a new level of loyalty.,..
