Our Lady of the Angels

Wednesday, 22nd week, Ordinary Time

Our Lady of the Angels

  • Col 1:1-8  Paul:  Thank God for your faith and love.  Gospel is bearing fruit and growing among you and everywhere.
  • Lk 4:38-44  Jesus rebukes Simon's mother-in-law's fever, cures sick and possessed brought to him, goes to deserted place before other towns to proclaim Kingdom.

Today, Mary, and the City of Los Angeles
We celebrate the Mother of Jesus, Patroness of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, and the City of Los Angeles (El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciúncula, the town of Our Lady Queen of the Angels of the Little Portion), founded this day in 1781.  See Sr. Joanne Wittenburg's article in the Cathedral newsletter.
