St. Alphonsus

August 1, 2013:  St. Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor

Ex 40:16-21, 34-38  LORD commanded Moses:  Moses erected glory-filled Dwelling, put commandments in ark, couldn't enter cloud-covered tent.  Israel advanced when cloud lifted, saw fire in cloud at night.

Ps 84:3, 4, 5-6A and 8A, 11  How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord, mighty God!

Mt 13:47-53  Kingdom is like a net collecting fish.  Angels separate wicked from righteous.  Scribe instructed in Kingdom brings both new and old from storeroom.

  • Shirt:  Blue of the sea
  • Tie:  fish being collected
  • Suspenders:  grid of net collecting fish

Angel pin (above and below):  angel from gospel

  • Crystal tie pin:  closest I can find for dwelling place and tent (1st reading and psalm), and perhaps storeroom (gospel)
  • Bird(?) tie pin:  closest I have for sparrow or swallow (psalm)

Finally, don't forget the fish Lucy painted over the weekend.  It hasn't come off yet and fits today's gospel too!
